Our Story

Our road to ending up in Barcelona is a longer story than just a few paragraphs…but this is a brief snapshot of how we got here!

We met while in college in Southern California, even though we grew up less than 14 miles apart in Portland, Oregon. After dating for 2 years we were married in 2001. Maisie was born in 2006 in Paris, France during our first overseas church-planting effort. Matias was born in Barcelona on December 9th, after we had only been in Spain for a few months!

We have been serving in ministry together for almost 10 years. Our time working with the Church has given us a greater passion to live out our faith among people who are disconnected from Jesus and the Church. We have a desire to show how following Jesus is relevant for daily life in the here and now and to reveal the personal God that we trust and believe. We want people to taste the grace, hope, and joy that God desires for us all to live in! We’ve seen how our gifts and abilities compliment each other and make us a great team. Jen’s strengths are in the areas of discernment, faith, and anything that help other people grow and be encouraged! Justin’s are in areas of creative communication, strategic planning, and leadership.

Education & Experience

Justin has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope International University in Church MInistry. He has served as both a high school and young adult pastor in California.

Jen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope in Social Work and has worked with children, youth, and the elderly in this field.

In 2005 we moved to Paris, France for our first overseas ministry experience. This time taught us a lot about: teamwork, cultural adaptation, and church-planting strategy. But more so, taught us about: humility, sacrifice, and grace. As we look towards beginning something in Barcelona, we can see how God has gifted us with opportunities to help prepare us to serve well in Spain.

We’re now living in the Borne neighborhood of Barcelona. We’ve been here for just a short while and are looking to begin serving in tangible ways in the city as we share our lives and faith.
